Building What Didn’t Exist: The Story of FastMoto Fantasy

For more than a decade, I played Fantasy Sports - EPL Fantasy, SuperCoach, even PulpMX Fantasy. I loved the strategy, the rivalries, the late-night tinkering with lineups.

But when it came to motocross?

There was a strange silence. Only one platform worth playing on, and a couple of half-hearted attempts. For a sport filled with die-hard fans, that gap didn't make sense.

And here's the thing: when you live inside two worlds - in my case, design and fantasy sports - you notice the gaps faster. I've run Troy Designs Studio for 6 years, creating websites, branding, and campaigns for moto brands. At the same time, I knew the thrill of playing Fantasy. Sooner or later, the two were always going to collide.

  • The thought came quietly: What if I built the platform I wanted to play on?

That's how FastMoto Fantasy started. Not as a business plan, not as a product roadmap, but as a late-night project fuelled by stubbornness and a love for the sport.

Ten months later - after countless coding hours, every pixel of design drawn by hand, and too many cups of coffee  - the first version went live.

We didn't shout about it. We whispered. We tested. We fixed. We listened.

And then came the breakthrough: the Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship partnered with us as their official fantasy platform. Suddenly, what started as "my idea for a better game" became something much bigger.

In our first AUSX season in 2024, we grew from a handful of test users - around 50 or 60 to 700 players. Today?

  • 1,085 users and counting
  • 100-200 website visits a day
  • 20,000+ monthly social impressions

FastMoto has become Australia's largest motocross fantasy platform.

But numbers only tell part of the story. The real win is seeing a community of fans engage with the sport in a new way - debating picks, watching lap times, celebrating (or regretting) their rider choices.

The truth is, most opportunities don't show up wrapped neatly with a bow. They hide in the gaps. The things that don't yet exist. And sometimes the best thing you can do is take what you already know, what you already love, and put the two together.

That's what I did. And it's just the beginning.

More features. More upgrades. More ways for brands to connect with riders and fans.

Because in motocross, just like in business, the gate drop is only the start.
